In this lesson, we will begin sur-abhyas (notes practice) with laya/beats for the female scale (A#) with the first basic alankar. Aaroh (ascending): Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Ṡa Avroh (descending): Ṡa Ni Dha Pa Ma Ga Re Sa

This lesson is in A# which is suitable for females. If you are a male watch this lesson Alankar 1 | Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Ṡa | Scale C# Male. First, we will sing every note slowly in bol (in aaroh and avroha) to understand how it's sung and sounds like. Then we will gradually increase the speed. Watch the video for the demonstration. Then we will sing notes in Aakar (aa sound) similarly at different speeds starting from a slower speed. Open mouth properly in an egg shape while singing in aakar. Watch the video for the demonstration. The next part of the video contains this Alankar in different tempos (with teen taal) for you to sing along with and practice.

In this lesson, here is how we will practice:

1. sing every swar/note for 16 matra (beats).
2. sing every swar/note for 8 matra (beats).
3. sing every swar/note for 4 matra (beats).
4. sing every swar/note for 2 matra (beats).
5. sing every swar/note for 1 matra (beat).
6. sing every swar/note for 1/2 matra (beat) i.e, 2 swar in 1 matra.
